Bridging the Gap
Coronavirus has all but doomed small businesses in the service industry. With most restaurateurs slated to re-open only 30-40% of their former stores due to lack of government assistance, poorly written PPP loans and more, many service industry workers will not have jobs to return to...at least not right away.
Cystic Fibrosis is a disease which affects 30,000 people in the US, with about 1,000 new cases every year. The symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis can be much like those of Coronavirus, including persistent coughing, frequent lung infections including pneumonia or bronchitis, wheezing or shortness of breath, and a shortened life expectancy. People affected by Cystic Fibrosis must take extra precautions during these times.
That puts us at an impasse here, does it not, if we are passionate both about saving businesses and their employees, as well as keeping those among us who need it most, safe?
That’s our purpose. We’re Bridging the Gap. The purchase of a puzzle here, donated by the local artists featured below, will donate $10 ($5e) to both service industry workers who need it most, AND to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Western Pennsylvania. When you’re putting together your bridge puzzle, you’re staying home, staying safe, and doing good.
To nominate a service industry worker you’d like to “tip”, please go to @BridgingTheGapPGH on facebook, include their name, 1-3 sentences highlighting why you’d like them to receive “tips” from puzzle sales, and include their Venmo handle.
